This might seem obvious, but one of the best things about creating the Secret Society of Unreasonable Kindness is being surrounded by unreasonably kind people.
Kind people understand the value of kindness towards other humans and are drawn to being in spaces with other kind people who are thinking about how to create more kindness in the world.
(That's a lot of kind in one sentence.)
The folks in our little experiment are wired for kindness.
Whether they're sending notes and goodies in the mail...
Sharing their gratitude in our Slack community after spending an hour together in a Zoom room...
Or creating our community guidelines together around what we want the space to be for and how we want to be with each other.
It's quite remarkable to have a corner of the internet with so much dedication to kindness, especially in contrast to the news, social media, etc.
It's a place where we get to be real with where we are on any given day, we get to support each other, we get to be silly and "too much" together, we get to practice who we most want to be in the world, and we get to scheme about adding delight, silliness, mischief, and unreasonable kindness into the world.
I'm immensely grateful for the members, as they nourish and motivate my kindness.
I'm also grateful for all the folks out there who are wired for kindness and putting ripple effects out into the world, whether they're in our little community or not.
May we all have places in our lives where we get to be surrounded and supported by kind people. Our kindness matters.
Your kindness matters.
You matter.
